heel spur

Description of the pathology, definition and symptoms

The heel spur is an anomalous bone spur (osteophyte), similar to a pink thorn or a claw, which develops in the back or lower part of the heel.

The heel is one of the 7 bones of the Tarsus; Tarsus is one of the three bone groups constituting the foot skeleton.

Often associated with plantar fascite or problems with Achilles tendon, the football plug is the possible consequence of: injuries to be paid by a tendon or a foot muscle, excessive strains of the footbed or repeated tears of the perishable of the heel.

The rear football plug can arise in different age groups.

It can remain asymptomatic for a long time and then present itself with a slight painful symptomatology, which gradually tends to worsen, located in the high back of the heel. If neglected for a long time, It can also become difficult to perform normal daily walking activities until they deeply affect the quality of life of the interested party.

Conservative therapy

When you begin to demonstrate symptoms attributable to the "rear heel spur" it is indicated to reduce the sporting or working activity that led to the onset of pain. As already mentioned, it is advisable to use comfortable footwear, preferably sneakers, with a rise of about 2 centimeters at the level of the heel, in order to relieve the voltage on the tendon.

The use of a tailor -to -measure footprint prescribed by the orthopedic specialist who, by raising the background, contributes to decreasing the voltage to which the tendon is subjected, can be made necessary.
